Hi Guys,

My names Steve i'm 32 years old and my wife and i live on the awesome Sunshine Coast.

I own a purple Hyundai Excel 1995 model which i use to drive around for work and a general run about. The paint is absolutely shot on this thing so i am in the process of doing some body work ready to respray in a couple of months time here in my garage.

The engine is untouched and has 291 000 on the clock and is still going hard!

After i have done the spray i am looking at doing the interior as it's pretty chocolate too and maybe some other small cheap mods to give her a little better pickup( maybe drop the twin cam engine in if it can be done?). Ultimately i want her to stay looking stock on the outside but i will be putting in a Saas racing wheel (as the stock one is so weather i get black crap all over my hands) and maybe look at a short shifter or get the stock one cut down and rewelded.

I joined up here because you guys sound like a pretty good bunch of level headed people which is what i'm about so expect to see me here often :)

PS: I am hoping to get down to lakeside to have a look at your blokes cut it up later in the year when my car is a bit more presentable ;)

Yep i'll get some pics up in the next couple days , brace yourselves though as she's in pretty bad shape at the moment. Grey patchy roof, patchy bonnet with repair work also side back corner ...it's getting their though and it's hard to devote heaps of hours in one go as i' m a shift worker and a dad as many of you probably are too ;)

Everything on this car needs work including the interior so it will be months and months of work bit by bit as budget and time allows with a focus to have a decent slighty sporty looking little beast whilst retaining stock look.

The only addons i will be doing is a sports wheel, modding my shifter to a short shifter by cutting it down and adding a Tacho, a small one if i can find one i like...

I have to install new door cards, new sunvisors and two new front seats and various other bits and bobs, carpet is in good nick though so i guess thats something

I have the single cam engine with 290 000kms on it  she's still good though ;) but i have a hunch i might put a low k's wreckers edition in her early next year though to finish her off and wrap it up, may even go twincam if it's easy enough, i have no car mechanical knowledge except basic stuff but i repair alot of machinery at work so i know my way around a set of spanners so i hope to pick it up quite easily.

Hmmm just realised i repeated alot from my first post, must be my old age of 32 setting in huh ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome!! :)
