A very big hello to all my fellow Hyundai nutters

Just thought I'd introduce myself, the name Metronome comes as I'm a drummer and well, yeah, pretty much speaks for itself

I live in Sydney NSW and am a part of CACA - Christian Autosports Club of Australia, been driving cars around forever, learnt on good and faithful Datsun 1600's, and still race them in Motorkhana's and Kharnacross's, absolute blast race!

I currently own a '98 Twincam Excel, more commonly known as Ruby, only had Her about 2 1/2 months, though so far I've already had to replace an
Engine - low cold air intake sucked up a whole heap of water driving home from work one day, just so happens that water doesn't compress all that well, instead engine parts do instead.
Alternator - died on the way home from work in the lane cove tunnel at peak hour.
And just finishing putting another gearbox in - killed it at a motorsport event, and it wasn't racing! Bizarre.
Thankfully I was able to do most of the work myself, which saved me a heap!
But besides these small, insignificant problems, I've had an absolute blast with Ruby, especially after installing a soft button clutch (Exedy) figured I may as well while I had the engine out) she did really well at the last Motorkhana I took her too. This isn't my first Hyundai though, owned a '98 Lantra Sportswagon before that, which was a great car, but wanted something a bit smaller and more agile, I figured that I could use the family's 4WD to cart my stuff round if need be. And for those who care, I owned a 1978 Mercedes Benz 280e, which was an amazing first car, but the fuel bill was just insane and so was the upkeep to keep him going so I had to say goodbye and get something a little more fuel efficient, thus when my love for hyundai's started.
Got a few plans for good ol' Ruby with the usual list of mods: full exhaust system, cold air intake, suspension, strut braces, short throw, bigger sway bars, bash plate (my family does alot of motorsport stuff, rather be safe than sorry) nolathane bushes, disc brake conversion for the rear, bucket seats, window tinting and have a nice sound system waiting for me to throw in when I get the time. Hopefully sometime down the track I'd like some Twin throttle bodies, port polish and maybe also some more aggressive cams. And as usual, some lower profile tyres with a nice set of rims, nothing too big though, this car is meant to be kept as practical as possible

Anyways, that's more than enough of me I'm sure, I'm looking forward to getting to know you all, keeping you all posted with how everything's going, absolutely love this website, keep it up and talk to you all soon!
Troy - Metronome.
